Black arrow! by Lyzzy-Beth Black arrow! by Lyzzy-Beth
'Black arrow! I have saved you to the last. You have never failed me and always I have recovered you.
(...), go now and speed well!"

- Bard, true-hearted man of Esgaroth, descendant of Girion the Lord of Dale

This is one of my favorite scenes in The Hobbit.
Bard aims his last arrow at Smaug, after the old thrush gave him the hint about the soft spot in the dragons breast.

It's hard to say which one i like more. LOTR and The Hobbit are parts of the same story after all. I love both! :D
I would recommend, to finish LOTR first and then read The Hobbit.

hmm, let's say, the focus is set on different characters. ;)
The Hobbit is basically the story of how the One Ring returned to the world. Without The Hobbit, there wouldn't be any LOTR. (sort of) :D
